To complete the cultural progression from these legendary nights to the new “glittering” scene of the early 80s, we conclude with a classic photo of Sheila by Lee Bowery, host of Taboo, a special nightclub that continues the tradition of Steve Strange\\\\\\’s extravagant nights.

This beautiful 176-page book contains 138 rare and previously unpublished photographs.

Jones, now editor-in-chief of the Evening Standard, studied at St. Martin\\\\\\’s School of Art and has worked as an editor at i-D, The Face, Arena, The Observer, The Sunday Times, and GQ. The Blitz was the first nightclub he ever went to.

Sheila Locke came to London from the U.S. in the early 1970s and became one of the first photographers to document London\\\\\\’s emerging punk and New Romantic scene. in 1972, when her then-husband Mick Locke accompanied David Bowie on his first “Ziggy Stardust” U.S. tour She was introduced to the music scene by David Bowie when she accompanied him on his first U.S. tour of “Ziggy Stardust” in 1972. Since then, she has continued to photograph some of the world\\\\\\’s most famous bands and performers.

This book contains many previously unpublished photographs taken at the Blitz, Billy\\\\\\’s, and People\\\\\\’s Palace, the London nightclubs that gave birth to a movement that influenced style and music for decades to come.

When I first came to England from the U.S., life in London was dreary and gray. But then came glam rock, then punk, which was both dark and glamorous, and in the early 1980s, there was still no money, but there was an atmosphere of optimism and freedom. The people at the Blitz, a club in Covent Garden, were the movers and shakers of the New Romantic era, and I was fascinated by them.”

As Sheila herself says, street fashion was at its peak then, and the pavements and nightclubs were literally like catwalks. \\\\\\’There were all sorts of characters in the clubs, from Boy George to Steve Strange. Everyone was dressed up. Once you know the glitz and glamour, it\\\\\\’s hard to go back to the bland stuff.

Please note that the color of the products may vary depending on the settings and nature of the computer monitor and the environment (light level and brightness) in which the actual products are viewed.

[204
95
0":"post-49226","1":"product","2":"type-product","3":"status-publish","4":"has-post-thumbnail","6":"product_cat-in-stock-books-zine","7":"product_tag-book-zine","8":"product_shipping_class-18","10":"first","11":"instock","12":"shipping-taxable","13":"purchasable","14":"product-type-simple
["GET
