■the MISFITS_36 shots from max\\’s kansas city■
Limited to 666 copies, this is a reissue of the MISFITS\\’ first rare shots from the early days of punk rock in 1978, the year the Pistols disbanded. The Misfits, formed by Glen Danzig and Jerry Only, had already begun their rapid ascent. In a short span of time, they released NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, HORROR BUSINESS, and HALLOWEEN singles. 1981 saw the release of the classic WALK AMONG US. This is where the band became known all over the world. In a sense, dreamy songwriting, which approached only horror fantasy among the punk bands of the time with many lyrics with political messages, was MISFITS\\’ monopoly.
Unpublished black and white live shot of the Misfits at max\\’s kansas city, NY on December 20, 1978, taken by Lisa Lombardo, a girlfriend from Jerry Only High School, the year the second single “Bullet” was released. This is a rare collection of photos from the early days of the Misfits, before Doyle joined the band and before Debbie Lockhair was established. Max\\’s Kansas City opened in 1965 and was home to Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Velvet Underground, Alice Cooper, and the NY Dolls. It closed completely in 1981. Limited to 666 copies.
36 shots by Lisa Lombardi of her high school boyfriend\\’s band… An entire roll of previously unpublished black & white photos from December 1978.
